Chris Heisler parachuted into Normandy in the very early hours of June 6, 1944. Chris, a member of the 507th PIR of the 82nd Airborne, had his first encounter with a German at daybreak and shot and killed his enemy with his Thompson Submachine gun. Soon after, Heisler was taken prisoner. Heisler, like so many of his fellow paratroopers on June 6, 1944, was most worried about completing his assigned mission prior to the American landings at Omaha and Utah Beaches at 6:30 AM on D-Day.
