WFSB in Hartford, CT aired a report just recently on the World War II Foundation’s film trip to Belgium to retrace the footsteps of Bruce Sundlun, a Jewish-American B-17 pilot. Sundlun’s plane, the “Damn Yankee” was shot down and he crashed landed in the village of Jabbeke. From there, Sundlun lived one of the great escape stories of WWII. It just so happens that Sundlun’s daughter, Kara, went with us. She is also an anchor at WFSB, the local CBS affiliate. She filed a recent report on her return with our film crew. The documentary will premiere in 2014.
